Is Cloverfield a Godzilla movie? **Cloverfield Movie Spoiler Alert**

Ohhh my. So I needed to find out the answer to this one myself. So what better way than to hit the Fenway Theatre in Boston to catch the 12am show? Anyhow, here is my Cloverfield review.

********CLOVERFIELD MOVIE SPOILER ALERT*********

So here's the breakdown.

The monster is NOT Godzilla. YAY. It's actually this hairless albino ape looking thing that is assumed (by theory of one of the characters) rose from the bay, and sunk an oil tanker, right before throwing the head of lady liberty into Manhattan.

Also, the hairless albino ape shoots large creepy spidery-alien things out of it's arse, which lurk in the night, and have a few great "OH SHIT" scenes. When you get bitten by one, your eyes start bleeding, then you're head explodes. SWEET!

The good & bad thing about this movie is how you're looking at the world through the eyes of camera. Most movies give you the overall, and you definitely learn a lot more about what's going on, but, in this movie, all you know is what the characters know. I think it was appropriate.

If you want the rundown of the story: Going away party for this guy. Guy loves girl who he refuses to admit to her because he is moving to Japan. Guy's best friend holds camera to shoot goodbye "testimonials". Scary hairless albino ape (SHAA) strikes. Girl calls guy to tell him she can't move. Guy risks his life and all of his friends to save her across the city. Brother gets squished by tail, friend gets mauled by spidery alien and head explodes, camera-holder gets a shot to the face by SHAA and dies, Guy and Girl tell one another that they love eachother. Guy and Girl die when Manhattan is intentionally blown up.

That's about it.

I wouldn't mark this as the best movie I've seen, or even close to it. I probably won't watch it ever again even if someone rents it. It was ok, had a semi-cool concept and a few chances to shit your pants, but nothing extraordinary. There's my Cloverfield movie spoiler for you.
